General
Height: 5'9"
Age: 22
Build: Described as squat, with a bulky frame. Although very athletic, he has been likened with a young Kodo due to his musculature and lack of apparent grace.
Appearance: Short brown hair and eyes, many have inquired if he was twice his age, but has been told he has a youthful face by others. This has often met with befuddlement. He has a small scar on his lip, which he attributes to battle. Yet the rumor is he got it from a dog while he was a child, he fervently denies it.
Personality: He has been described as dense due to his absent-mindedness. However the opposite is true, he is very pensive. Unfortunately, he often looses touch with reality, drifting from one thought to another. He is often indecisive, mostly because the matter at hand often has low priority in his mind, which often cause problems if he to resolve a group decisions. Fortunately, these problems only occur if he feels safe, often in a pub. Yet, once he steps into the wilderness that is Azeroth or Outland, he becomes very focused, with a set plan of action. He is very capable on his own, but he would often rather be with a group. Being recognized as potential leader by his guild leaders, he is often put on lead. He is proud of his heritage and history, yet remains humble to all he meets. Although strong-willed in battle, he often seeks the approval of others.
Abilities
Like most Paladins, Palil has very adept control of the Light. He is renowned for his healing abilities, as he used to rarely show his offensive capabilities, causing others to believe that he can't protect himself well. Palil purposefully fostered this idea, believing that it is easier to make friends as a healer than a killer, when the only persistent threat was hostile Horde. The reality is he is a very formidable fighter, defeating foes much stronger and more experienced as he is, wielding the Light with conviction. After the opening of the Dark Portal, Palil became much more open about his skills, mostly due to inherent risks of Outland. He has been known to defeat scores of undead and demons and return completely unscathed. Palil is one of the few Paladins to complete all three paths of the Silver Hand: Faith, Tenacity, and most recently, Compassion.
Biography
Born in Southern Westfall to a respected Marine of the Alliance and a nurse, Palil and his older brother, Rearden, were raised with the hopes of not fighting in war. His father, Readen the Elder, who served under the likes of Admiral Proudmoore, and King Teranas Menethil II, fought in the First and Second Wars. He retired shortly thereafter, marrying his wife Joni, settled in Lordaeron to raise his sons.
Palil and his brother thrived there. As they both reveled in his father's stories, Palil and his brother trained to be fine soldiers and scholars. However, when scrimmaging technique with others, instead of charging for glory like his brother, Palil often stayed back to practice medicine on the "wounded" and never truly attacking on the battlefield unless it was in defense of others. Initially worried if Palil was a coward, Rearden the Elder sent the brothers to train with the Wildhammers and the Sentinels, both associates of his, to be always ready if the Burning Legion struck. Rearden observed that Palil was at his absolute fiercest, willing to sacrifice his life, if it meant saving those he cared about, earning him the nickname of the famous Alliance hero: Anduin.
Rearden decided to pull him out early and placed him to train among the Knights of the Silver Hand, while his brother continued to become more adept at the arts of war. Palil was a natural back at Lordaeron. Quickly mastering the Light, some even joked he could be the next Arthas, even being placed among the best Paladins to train with Uther and Arthas themselves. However, Palil was often at odds with Arthas. Even though Palil looked up to him as a hero, Arthas didn't like Palil's tenacity during battle, and Palil's constant willingness to learn concerned Arthas and his position of greatness. He even discreetly tried to discourage Palil, but Palil refused to be disheartened, willfully denying that his hero would try such a thing. Yet Arthas' actions were picked up by Rearden, going to Uther himself to inquire Arthas' intentions, which Uther merely placed as rivalry. During the rise of the Scourge, Palil was told to stay behind and continue to train as Uther and Arthas left to investigate. Being told he was too young, Palil worked harder than ever to try to become Arthas' equal. When Arthas returned, Palil hoped to challenge Arthas in a duel. When he and others discovered that Arthas murdered his father, Palil ran, horrified and in disbelief of his hero's actions.
Rearden quickly had his beleaguered family and possessions teleported by one of old magus ally to an area already planned for any dire occurrence, Westfall. Crushed over the fall of Arthas, and worried over the safety of his brother in the Hinterlands, Palil was in disarray. When news of the Order's darkest hour, the murder of Uther the Lightbringer himself had reached his home, something awoke within: A righteous fury engulfed him, holy fire barely brimming from his eyes. Charging out of his home, Palil was brought down by the entirety of the People's Militia to prevent him from his suicidal mission.
From that day forward, Palil swore to avenge Uther and bring justice to Arthas. He continued to train, and continued to learn the ways of the Light under Brother Samuel at Northshire Abbey. He left to explore Azeroth and it's secrets alone, searching for a way to defeat the now Lich-King, Arthas.
Palil quickly earned distinction with the Alliance for his honor and mercy, even earning respect from the Horde. As he was on a quest at the Scarlet Monastery, he met his future guild leader of the Knights of NI, Becca Luv, a very powerful yet rambunctious gnome warlock. Earning each others trust, he joined Becca and her band of misfits to venture from the sands of Tanaris to the Molten Core of Azeroth itself.
After a time, he sensed an evil presence stirring. He had a vison of green fire, with a demon in front of a grand gate. Fearing the worst, he went into isolation in the Shimmering Flats, fasting honing his skills with the blade and Light, with only the heat and cold as company. When he returned his fears were realized beyond what he imagined: Doom Lord Kazzak had opened the Dark Portal, unleashing the Burning Legion's fury. Palil, like so many others, quickly joined the fight against the Legion once more in the sundered realm of Outlands. He found the source of his Holy power, the Naaru in their city, Shattrath. With their knowledge, he grew to become a exceptional Paladin. He befriended the Draenei of the Aldor, and swiftly became exalted with the Shat'ar, the protectors of the Naaru. Later, he discovered his brother had survived the Scourge, and had returned to assist the People's Militia back at Westfall.
While assisting the Bronze Dragonflight, Palil witnessed the conception of the Ashbringer, destroyer of the Scourge, in the Caverns of Time. He learned of the tragedy of Mograine, and his enslavement at the dread Ziggaraut: Naxxramas. Palil made his new mission to recover the Ashbringer and redeem Mograine. With the Ashbringer in hand, Palil could finally match Arthas and Frostmourne, and bring justice for his crimes. With Becca and the Knights of NI behind him, Palil trains so he can enter Naxxramas. Over time, the guild decayed as members fell in battle or left to pursue their own desires. Becca married her long time lover, the dwarf Perrins, and settled down in Ironforge.
Sadly, Palil parted ways with NI as well, both parties acknowledging that NI became a drinking club to recount past glories. At Shattrath City, Palil found an old friend from his childhood at Lordaeron, the rogue Tai Mograine, nephew to Highlord Mograine himself. After many rounds at the pub, Tai introduced Palil to the Exiles of Anonymity, an elusive group sworn to protect Azeroth by any means necessary. The order noted Palil's abilities, and extented their resources to Palil and his search for Ashbringer in exchange for his services. Exploring and challenging the most powerful beings in Outland, Palil joined the Exiles in their search for the power only the brave or foolish strive.
He now frequently scrimmages with the Horde in the designated battlegrounds and engages in the private Arena in a two man team with Tai. He dabbles in Jewelcrafting and reclines at World's End Tavern.
