Current Status
Since Raion Suntreader fell behind in his studies, he is now traveling the world, gaining more knowledge every day. He hopes to become one of the most powerful magi in the world. He is also gaining more power so that he can travel to Outland and rejoin Kael'thas' forces and partake in the glory promised to them. In addition to this, he is searching for his missing elder sister, and attempting to restore the House of Suntreader to it's past glory.
If your lucky, you may run into him in your travels, and he's almost always willing to have a drink if you wish.
History
Suntreader was born approximately 3,000 years before the First War, in the year -3,176. He was the second child born to a wealthy aristocratic family living in the quel'dorei capital of Silvermoon. From the start, Suntreader displayed a natural affinity for the arcane arts, as well as physical combat. He spent nearly the first five centuries of his life studying and training, honing both his skills with the arcane and the sword. Suntreader had a dislike of politics, preferring to settle disputes with combat - which was considered strange being he was the child of a family of aristocrats. This preference to combat however, would prove invaluable in the times to come.
The Troll Wars
As the fifth century of Suntreader's life approached, the Troll Wars broke out. Though Suntreader spend about five centuries in training, he had never seen true combat. Suntreader, not technically part of the quel'dorei army, volunteered to defend his homeland.
The combination of arcane and sword Suntreader wielded became legendary. Innumerable numbers of forest trolls fell before Suntreader's wrath. Suntreader quickly rose through the ranks and ended up becoming a Commander of a small brigade in the quel'dorei army. Suntreader's most noteworthy success was the Assault on Zul'thraze.
Zul'thraze, a forest troll city, was heavily fortified, with thousands of forest trolls behind its massive stone walls, this city was instrumental in training berserkers and primals, making it a crucial target for the success of the war.
Suntreader's forces suffered mass casualties, as did the forest trolls. Those who were too injured to fight he sent outside the gates to wait for reinforcements. Enough warriors survived and were strong enough for the final confrontation against Doth'jin - Ruler of Zul'thraze.
The final confrontation was fierce. Doth'jin, while having no real magical abilities, was nonetheless fierce berserker. While the rest of the army was fighting against the remaining Amani warriors guarding Doth'jin's plateu, Suntreader and Doth'jin faced off. In the end, Doth'jin fell beneath Suntreader. His remaining forces looted the city and then set it a blaze. Just as the reinforcements were arriving, Suntreader appeared on the top of the giant wall into the city holding the head of Doth'jin high.
This battle was won, but the war was not over yet. Suntreader took his share of the loot from Zul'thraze and sent it to his family.
In the end of the war, the Suntreader family had a spire built in their honor in Eversong woods which would be known as the Suntreader Spire. This spire was destroyed in the Third War, but was rebuilt.
The Third War
For the next nearly 2,000 years, Raion Suntreader kept himself out of the great wars that transpired around the world. Even the massive First War and Second War, Raion Suntreader payed no heed to the suffering of the other races, just as they [often] did to his race. He had no time for the struggles of the lesser races, and he had more importaint things to worry about.
Then the Third War came. When the Scourge marched upon Silvermoon, Suntreader was there to assist in it's defense. Suntreader's power was strong, but against the innumerable armies of the undead, even Suntreader was of little help. When defeat seemed imminent, Suntreader told his family to flee. His mother and father, through much convincing, fled Silvermoon City, but his sister, Anarial, stayed to fight. As a Ranger, Suntreader had no military authority over her (as he did with his mage mother and father). During the course of the defense of the Sunwell, Raion in Anarial became seperated. Suntreader supressed the urge to search for her, knowing that he was needed defending the Sunwell.
After much fighting, Suntreader was given the order to retreat. "Flee and save as many of your kin as you can!" he was told. With a heavy heart, he led his forces away from the oncoming Scourge, and the Sunwell. Suntreader led his forces to the other side of Silvermoon City, but the Scourge was still in pursuit. From time to time Suntreader turned and brought down a roof or something to slow their advance, but that only did so much. Finally they reached the waters, and the docks. Suntreader ordered his people onto the boats, and the were able to set sail fast enough to escape the coming avalance of undead troops.
After giving his people a few minutes to take in what just transpired, Suntreader gave the order to set sail for the nearest allied port; Kul'Tiras.
On their way to Kul'Tiras, everyone on board the ships suddenly felt an emptyness, a thirst - the Sunwell had been lost. Even though no one had been there to see it happen, they all knew it was no more.
After arriving at Kul'Tiras, Suntreader - knowing that they were safe there - took a portion of his warriors north, to Dalaran. There, Suntreader and his forces met up with a familiar face; Prince Kael'thas. Prince Kael explained the situation to Suntreader. After participating in a few skirmishes, Kael'thas - for some odd reason - ordered Suntreader to return to Kul'Tiras and await orders.
Reclaiming Silvermoon City
After nearly two years of waiting, Suntreader got very impatient. His people were ready for action, ready to take back their home. Suntreader shared this desire, and he began to think it a fools dream... until he got wind of another group of, now "Blood Elves," heading towards Quel'Thalas to retake it. Immediately, Suntreader ordered one of his scouts to find these elves and tell them that reenforcements are on their way. When the scout reported back, he was told that plans were already made for anyone wishing to aid in the fight to retake Quel'Thalas to rondevuez with the rest of the army at the Blackened Woods (now the Ghostlands). Suntreader ordered his people onto the boats and headed north, back to Quel'Thalas. On his way to Quel'Thalas, Suntreader remembered he had been given an order by the Prince to await for orders, but he brushed the thought away.
"Surely Kael'thas would have given me an order now if I was meant to do anything important. Retaking out homeland takes priority anyway. Kael'thas... he probably forgot about me anyway. [something in Thalassian sounding rude]."
His forces met up with the main force in the Blackened Woods, and the march to Silvermoon City began. Suntreader, as well as everyone else, felt a sting at seeing their once proud homeland in ruins. But it would not stay this way for long. Silvermoon City would be retaken, the Scourge thrown out, and the glory of the high elves would be restored - no, not restored, reborn... as the Blood Elves.
Aftermath of the March on Silvermoon City
Immediately after retaking the city, with Grand Magister Rommath's help, the restoration process began. Almost overnight the city was restored to its former glory. During the restoration process, many Blood Elves returned after hearing that their home had been reclaimed. In this time, Suntreader was reunited with his parents. As it turned out, they were part of the campaign to reclaim Silvermoon City. It was only now, with the confusion that all the Blood Elfs returning were causing, that they could sneak away from their duties. Unfortunetly, this happy moment would come to an end all too quickly, as the question arose from his mother about the whereabouts of his sister. Suntreader hung his head and told his parents how they were seperated, and they he never saw her after that. In an attempt to reassure his worried mother,
"She's a strong girl, I'm sure she's fine somewhere. She was probably sleeping when word got out that Silvermoon was being restored."
His mother laughed, agreeing with him, and then his parents left to see what remained of their old home. Suntreader stayed behind to assist with the rest of the restoration. But as much as he wanted to believe what he told his mother, he had a difficult time trying to convince himself. He saw the massive armied of the undead, and he knew the odds of her surviving were incredibly small. But then again, he was in the same battle, and he survived... so maybe, just maybe she was alive somewhere.
Present Day
Silvermoon has been restored. In the two years that transpired between the Third War and the Reclaiming of Silvermoon, Suntreader fell far behind in his studies. After taking care of some minor problems in Eversong Forest, and cleansing the Blackened Woods - now called the Ghostlands - Suntreader has resumed his studies and is traveling the world to gain more power - He would never let anything like what happened to Quel'Thalas before happen again. He hopes to run into his sister on his travels, but Azeroth is a big place, and it would take far too long to search the entire world for her. Then it hit him -"Outland! Kael'Thas led much our people to Outland! Maybe she ran into Kael'Thas and went with him?!" Suntreader had found a second reason to gain power, so he could go to Outland and find his sister.
